Tabang Sendong

The first batch that completed the 7-Sunday formation program facilitated by Gawad Kalinga (GK) had their graduation yesterday April 15, 2012 at 4 in the afternoon. The sessions aimed to strengthen the relationships of the residents and to introduce them to a set of shared values. Right after the celebration of the Sunday mass at Xavier Ecoville, the 226 formation attendees gathered in the multipurpose center. The program kick started with a community singing of an action song.  This was then followed by an opening talk given by Mr. Art Limas of GK. As his talk wrapped up, the first batch cheered together a loud “Wala Iwanan!”, vocalizing the spirit of oneness.  

 

Mr. Tito Alex Besinga, one of the formation sessions facilitator of GK gave a message followed by Ms. Iris Montellano, camp manager of Xavier Ecoville. The graduates took an oath to take responsibility for one another as brothers and sisters in one community. Present in the event were the GK formation team, the camp management team under the direction of Ms. Esrtrella Borja and the Xavier Ecoville community development committee head Ms. Ma. Theresa Rivera. 

 

The graduation lasted until evening as there were presentations and a shared dinner, again marking the values of being their brother's/sister's keeper.
