In the effort of diverting the children’s traumatic experiences brought about by the tropical storm Sendong, Xavier Ecoville, the Xavier University-led resettlement site in partnership with the CdeO LGU located in Brgy. Lumbia welcomes various partners, especially those that provide fun and educational activities to the children who have all the free time this summer.
One of the activities stretching out for the entire week is the Sending Sendong Kids to Summer Camp project of Happy Soles. It consists of fun learning activities on art, sports, health and literature. Happy soles is a student-initiated organization dedicated to serve and educate children through tutorials and providing school kits. It was originally founded by 5 student volunteers of Xavier University.
Last Monday April 23, they distributed packs of complete school supplies to the grades 1 and 2 pupils of Xavier Ecoville. They will be hopping to 5 more Sendong affected areas, Xavier Ecoville being their first stop.
Aside from Happy Soles, other partners are also bringing color to the school-free days of the Ecoville kids. Community and Family Services International (CFSI) provided a child-friendly space where the kids have their art therapy and storytelling sessions. ChildFund is another partner organization that continues to facilitate psychosocial sessions through play therapy every afternoon.
Looks like the summer forecast for the Xavier Ecoville children is sunny all the way
