The Japan-Philippines Running, Mountaineering and Skiing (RUMS) Club composed mostly of Filipinos in Japan organized a spring fun run at the Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park in Osaka for the survivors of Sendong.
More than 500 people turned up for the marathon which raised over P25,000.00 donated to XU’s rebuilding efforts at Xavier Ecoville. The event featured a1-km dog run, a 2-km race for kids; 3, 5 and 10-km races; and 2 and 4-hour marathons.
Bong Arreza Yamaguchi, founder of Japan-Philippines RUMS Club, said he decided to organize the fun run in April as fund raising for Sendong survivors.
Started in 2009, the club holds regular spring fun runs, climb to Mt Fuji, and skiing and bowling tournaments.
